Melanie Cusack
Client Director
Melanie has worked in the pensions industry since 1988 addressing both statutory and non-statutory actuarial and non-actuarial aspects of UK occupational pension schemes. A qualified pensions actuary, she also has strong project management skills and a pragmatic “can-do” approach.
Melanie was actively involved in training trustees, non-trustee clients and colleagues on legislative developments such as age discrimination, scheme funding and the pension protection fund. She also mentored actuarial trainees and was an active participant on the in-house Professional Standards Committee.
Since joining Pitmans Trustees Ltd in November 2009, Melanie has been appointed mostly to DB schemes, although she also works with a DC master trust. This has given Melanie the opportunity to put into practice the training and advice she has given over the years.
Born and educated in Australia, Melanie has settled in the UK after marrying a Brit. This makes for interesting “discussions” regarding sport, particularly during rugby and cricket test matches. With three daughters, swimming seemed to be the least contentious sport to focus on. It is with reluctant acceptance that, in the UK, most of this must take place at indoor swimming pools and many hours are spent in the highly chlorinated world of the local swimming club - “The body-surfing training has to wait until we visit Australia!”
