About PTL

PTL was founded as an Independent Trustee in 1994 and is a 100%-owned subsidiary of Pitmans Solicitors. Whilst providing a service that is of the highest technical standard, PTL also brings commonsense, commitment, understanding and pragmatism to bear on all aspects of its work.

PTL acts as an independent trustee to trust based pension schemes and as governors for contract based pension schemes (such as group personal pension plans).

PTL acts for open, closed and paid up pension arrangements. It also acts for arrangements that are being wound up or are in transition from one of these to another.

PTL have particular expertise in managing problem pension arrangements and in schemes being assessed by the Pension Protection Fund.

PTL can act as part of an existing trustee or governance structure or can act alone. The extent of its involvement in your pension arrangement is decided by you.

The Pensions Act 2004 requires trustees to have detailed knowledge and understanding of pension matters. The regulator is raising the standard of governance required on all types of pension scheme. With various factors affecting pension schemes, such as the Myners Report, the deficit crisis and Government and European regulations, the advantages of using Pitmans Trustees Limited have become compelling over the last few years.
